Kyiv, April 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Constitutional Court of Ukraine has ruled unconstitutional a resolution by the parliament entitled "on the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada" of March 16, 2006.
Constitutional Court Chief Justice Andriy Stryzhak read the ruling on Monday.
The resolution is canceled from the day of the publication of the ruling by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
According to the ruling, after the Constitution of Ukraine took effect, it became the only Ukrainian law that can resolve the issue of organization and procedure for the parliaments activity, as well as the status of MPs.
The court took the decision while considering a submission from 50 MPs on the constitutionality of parliament rules concerning the procedure for submitting requests by MPs.
During consideration of the case, the Constitutional Court said the parliamentary resolution on the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada ran completely counter to the Constitution.
Under such conditions, the court found it necessary to resolve the question of the resolutions constitutionality based on Clauses 2-3, Article 61 of the law on the Constitutional Court.
